Baby's First Christmas

Everyone told me that this Christmas would be one of our most memorable....you were right. Christmas with little ones is just so much more fun. While sweet Mary Grace may not have grasped the whole concept of Christmas, baby Jesus, and gifts, it was still magical watching the awe and wonder in her eyes at each and every turn.

Our Christmas festivities began on Christmas Eve with a trip to my Dad's house. Mary Grace had a blast playing with her Pop and Gran, and seeing my Dad with my daughter always warms my heart.

Later that night we were off for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner with Bobby's family. As always, Nannie did a fantastic job on the yummy food and we all had a blast just hanging out and enjoying the season together. Once we were home and Mary Grace was settled in bed, Bobby and I exchanged gifts. He is such a sweet, thoughtful husband!

Christmas morning started at 7:00 for Bobby and I. This is the time Mary Grace normally wakes up, so we wanted to be ready. We set up the camcorder, made sure the camera was handy.... and little bit decided to sleep until 8:00. Everyone told us to enjoy the late start, because before long she will be up before dawn wanting to dig into her goodies.

After Mary Grace opened her gifts, we threw on our coats and headed back to Nannie's for the Christmas breakfast tradition, followed by gifts. Then, we were off to spend time with Bobby's mom, sister, and niece. Later, Bobby's dad stopped by our house, and we ended the evening at home with my mom and my brother's family.

Once everyone left, it was bath time followed by Daddy reading the Christmas story from the book of Luke. By the time we had Mary Grace asleep, we were exhausted!

This was by far our best Christmas yet. I look forward to many, many more with our little family. My sincerest hope is that your day was filled with just as much joy and love.

Weekend Away At Poppy's

Mary Grace and I had been looking forward to spending a couple of days with my grandparents for some time now. It just seems like life has been so hectic that we haven't been able to get a weekend away. Finally, we were able to clear the calendar, pack our things, and head out for a weekend getaway.

We arrived Friday evening and Mary Grace immediately took to playing with Poppy and Marlene. She opened her Christmas gifts and fell in love with her pink poodle {which we affectionately call Pinky}.

Saturday was Marlene's birthday so she and I headed out for a little shopping and lunch- meanwhile Poppy and Mary Grace stayed home for some bonding time :) Later that evening, us three girls headed out for a very eventful birthday dinner- little Miss wet through her diaper and onto my lap.

Yes, she peed on me in the middle of the restaurant. As I've said before, it isn't always rainbows and sunshine, but its our life and I love it- pee and all :)

Sunday, tuttie and I enjoyed a sweet little service at Marlene's church. She met some of her great aunts and uncles and enjoyed being the center of attention.

Then it was time to head home. We met Granny and PeyPey {hope this pseudonym is okay :)} for a late lunch and last minute Christmas shopping. Upon returning home I was greeted by a nice surprise from my husband- he installed lights underneath the cabinets for me, and he fixed our pantry light. He must have been pretty bored without his girls around ;)

Sweet Baby Boy

I am thrilled to share with you that I am the proud aunt of the most adorable little boy! Jared Clifton Carter {named for our Daddy} made his debut into this world today, shortly after 2 a.m. I could not wait to get off work so I could get some baby love. It was so sweet seeing my brother with his little family.

Peek-A-Boo, Daddy

One of Mary Grace's favorite things to do is play peek-a-boo. She and Bobby play this game each night in our chair and she has the best time. Seeing these two playing and laughing together always warms my heart and brings a smile to my face.

These are the moments that make a life.
